Use of 3D in modern media
3D in TV: 3D in Films/shows is just a casuality. That isn’t special anymore. Every
movie/show is 3D except Cartoons/Animes.
3D
not 3D
3D in Games: In games 3D is a usual tool to give the player
the feeling that he’s in the game. Like in FPS games or any game on the “Oculus
Rift” which is just a headset with a split screen in it. The split screen is the
reason why the brain thinks it’s a 3D situation. Rayman for example started as
a 2D platformer but then the Rayman games became 3D platformer because in that
time it was necessary for the development studios to turn their games 3D to
sell anything. But in the games Rayman Legends/Origins they changed their style
back to the roots.

2D Game review
Zombie Tactics
Zombie tactics is a round based strategy game
developed on the flash engine and made by Epace Games. The game was published on Funny Games and I found it on NotDoppler. The game starts with a nurse, a
lumberjack and a retired soldier. They are talking about that there were
outbreaks in the prisons nearby. The first fight starts. The battleground is a
field that is patterned in hexagons. These hexagons are the fields where the
characters stand on. Every character is able to walk 2 fields for free and 5
fields with loosing stamina. The stamina is necessary for the characters to use
their skills. There are 3 characters in the beginning: a nurse, a lumberjack
and an old or retired soldier.
The nurse’s skill she’s starting with is a healing skill that
heals everything in a radius of one field. The lumberjack has got a single
target melee attack. The soldier has got a bow with which he’s shooting on
zombies. There are characters coming in the group later in the game with
different skills to keep the game interesting after a long period of time spending
with playing it.
After every round the characters get experience points (XP)
and gold. The XP makes the character level up. For every level the player can
unlock new skills or upgrade those. With the gold the player is able to buy
items that buff the characters. The Items buff things like health, stamina and damage. They
can be found or bought from the merchant (the guy with the beard on the lower
right.)

TOOLS I USED
Blender 3D
This is the mirror tool. It’s used to get 2 or more completely identical models. I use it to get 2 completely identical halves of a model.
This is the Subdivision Surface tool. It’s used to make the
model smoother by subdividing the surfaces in a smooth way.
This is the vertices selection tool. The name explains the use.
This is the surface selection tool. This name explains the
tool too
This is the extrusion tool. It is used to extrude surfaces
by creating 4 new surfaces expanding under the selected surface, pushing it
forward.
This
is the manipulating tool. It’s used to move vertices, edges and surfaces on the
Z,X and Y axis.
This
is the scale tool which is used to scale models, parts, surfaces and edges.
This
is the vertices selection tool. Name explains tool.
This
is the subdivision tool and the subdivision smooth tool. They are used to
subdivide a surface smooth or just plain.
This is the shading tool. It can shade a model smooth or
flat.
Unity
Play tool. It’s used
to test the game that is in progress to see if everything works out
Perspective
manipulator tool: With that tool the developer can control the view on the game
during the development
Import new asset
tool: With that tool the developer is allowed to import assets he created on
himself or from external sources like Blendswap
or the official Unity website.
The “Create” tool is
a tool to create scripts for many things that could be included in the game.
The copy tool is used
to copy a variety of things.
The paste tool is
used to paste already copied things from the clipboard.
The duplicate tool is
used to duplicate different things.
The 3D Object tool is
used to create different 3D objects like Cubes or Spheres.
The 2D Object tool is
used to create 2D Sprites for 2D games.
